My Goals for March 2012

Before I get to my goals for March, I thought I’d share a few pictures!

Wearing James in the Moby wrap keeps my hands free for turning pages!

I don’t know why, but Simone is head over heels for this komodo dragon statue at the zoo and always has been.

Wearing James at the zoo.

1. Return to Regular Mealtimes. The end of my pregnancy was a train wreck for our day-to-day lives; I didn’t want to do anything lest my body decided to actually go into labor! Regular mealtimes were one of the first things to go out the window and Jason and I got into the habit of feeding Simone early and then eating after she went to bed. Eating meals around the table together is important to me, so I want to get back to it.

2. Make Small To-Do Lists. I can be overly ambitious and I know that with a toddler and a newborn, I really need to keep my to-do lists small for a while. I plan to set myself no more than five simple tasks each day, and hopefully that will allow me to get a few pressing things done while still spending lots of time with Simone and James.

3. Buy Our Wood Floor. We had plans to do this literally the day I went into labor (the first time) and with all the chaos of the following weeks, we left it undone.

4. Check Online Banking Every Day. This is something I was doing great with until my weird contractions started. I’ve still been logging our receipts and checking our bank account here and there, but I want to get back to doing a quick checkup each day and making sure everything syncs up between my records and the bank’s. The peace of mind is priceless.

5. Carve Out Special Time for Simone. I want to make sure that Simone feels just as loved as she did before her brother was born. This month I want to take her to Story Time at the library at least twice, and maybe to the zoo again, with my mom for backup. (Of course James will also be coming along on these outings!) I also want to make time for all those little things she loves, like reading on the couch, coloring, helping me bake, and playing games.

The Moby wrap looks absolutely awesome and James looks like he likes it as well. He looks so cute all snuggled up like that.

And of course, it goes without saying that Simone on that dragon is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

I love that thing. It’s tricky to get the hang of because it’s basically a really long piece of fabric, but it’s very secure and snuggly.

I can’t believe how organized you are with two children (and assorted pets!) You’re an inspiration. :-) Cute photos!

James sure is cute, I love the name. I wish I had used wraps more with my babies, but the few times I did try it never worked very well, so I quickly gave up.

I can’t believe you’ve readjusted so quickly! Glad you are all doing so well.

These look great! Having special time with the big kid can be so fun between all the newborn diapers and nursing. Make sure “Rest/Take it easy” is on your list somewhere too :-) I know everybody is different, but it took my body about 3 months to fully recover from having Chase because I kept getting overambitious and active about being a mom of 2.
(Don’t you hate it when people give you unsolicited parenting advice? Sorry about that. Hope I don’t come across as obnoxious. I’m sure you’re doing a great job!)

Oh, it definitely is! (That’s part of my “make small to-do lists” goal). I’ve felt pretty great so far, health-wise, but I can tell that having an older child is making my recovery a little slower, so I’m trying to take it easy!

And don’t worry, I don’t think you’re even remotely obnoxious! ;-)
